This interview aims to record some of the experiences and knowledge of one of Brazil's greatest sociologists, Mary Garcia Castro. Graduated in Social Sciences by the Federal University of Bahia (1968), master in Sociology of Culture by the same institution. He holds a Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1979) and a PhD in Sociology from the University of Florida (1989). He has a vast curriculum marked by national and international performances and information. Mary Castro was a professor and researcher at UFBA, besides having researched about the State University of Campinas and the Catholic University of Salvador.
