This article is cutout of a research developed between the years 2016 and 2017 in a quilombola community called Queimadas, which is located in the Brazilian hinterland, in the rural area of the municipality of Guanambi. This research aimed to investigate the trasmission of ethnic belonging among the different generations living there. To that, the method used was ethnography, with interviews, observation and life story narratives. In this research it became evident that the quilombolas of Queimadas make use of various strategies to convey ethnic belongings, ranging from marriage, land maintenance, spatial organization of the territory, oral transmission of traditions, coustoms and culture, among others. Thus, they have managed, over more than a hundred years, to preserve the ethnic belongings and harmony of the community. All this has only been possible because they are a collective, that protects the land, the family, and the ancestry of the group on a daily basis, from generation to generation.
Keywords: Quilombo; Generational Ethnicity; Ethnic Ancestry.
